At the end of each day do you say to yourself…
“Wow that was such a great day, I accomplished so much!”
OR
“Holy cow I don’t even know where the day went or what I got done.”
Here’s the deal.
Only about 10% of what’s on your To-Do list will actually make a real difference in your life. If you ever spent the day running around like crazy only to feel like you’ve accomplished little you know what I mean.
To be effective requires clarity on what you want to complete, and the discipline to stay focused until it’s done. At the top of each day in your Best Planner Ever you’ll see the section for Top Priority or A tasks.
BEFORE launching into the day, take 5-10 minutes to get clear on priorities. If not sure what the priority should be the best place to start is with your goals.
- What are your goals?
- Where do you want to go in your work or business?
- What is really important to you?
- What changes do you want most in life?
If you don’t have the answers to these questions, it’s okay. But… you’ll want to spend some quiet time thinking about it.
When you CLEARLY know where you want to go, then the top priority quickly comes into focus. The tasks on the your daily to-do list then become a very clear indicator of why you are, or are not, making forward progress.
Be very specific where you spend time. What you place on the top 1-3 items for each day will make a difference in your life.
Do The A Tasks First
If they can’t be done first, you still have a laser focused direction so when time permits you know what to do. Give the most effective tasks highest billing in your day.
That’s how you go from being busy, to effective.
Happy Planning!
