So if you are a human, and alive, you probably have some form of “clutter” in life. It might be living on your desk, in the car, in your sock drawer, or all three.
But here’s the surprising thing about clutter: it can also drain your time.
If you’ve ever spent an hour looking for the misplaced car keys, or your favorite shirt you can probably relate. What about sitting to plan out the day? If your goals are not clear and in an easy place to find, how can you determine priorities for the day? Then, before you know it the day has been lost into one big time suck.
In today’s busy lifestyle it can be difficult to eradicate clutter all at once, but if you can clear just one clutter mess a week the results will astound you.
Using your Best Planner Ever, at the beginning of each week identify just one mess to seek out and destroy for the week. Over the course of a year you’ll have 52 more organized desks, drawers, and dens and a lot more time for the things that really matter like nice long naps.
When clearing clutter, look at any place in your work or life that sucks time or makes you groan inwardly. It could be anything like:
- Email Inbox
- Dropbox folders
- Filing cabinet
- Your desk mess
- Those holiday decorations still out in April
- Kitchen cabinets or drawers
- That “closet” in your house
Don’t go overboard. Just take it one mess as a time…
Happy Clutter Clearing!
