You can do anything, but you can’t do everything

What are your top 3 priorities for today?

Do you know without question what they should be?

If you are anything like me, when sitting down to plan the day there is always an over-abundance of “stuff” to get done. The best strategy for being more effective and less busy is to get really good at sorting and prioritizing it all.

Each morning do a mind clear. I look at the current day’s page in my planner. Then, I’ll go back through the last few days and seek out any tasks not yet completed. I make sure it’s all written down. Then, ask the following:

  • What is the deepest desire of my heart?
  • Will this task move that desire forward?

If the answer is YES, it becomes a top priority.

If the answer is NO or YES, BUT NOT RIGHT NOW it gets added to a different list. It could be on my “other stuff” for the day to get done as I’m able. It might go on my Not To Forget (at the back of the planner). Or it could become a sticky note on my vision pages to circle back around to later.

The priority tasks? Keep them to 1-3 per day. No more. Try to do them first. Even if the rest of the day goes all to hell at least the  MOST IMPORTANT tasks were completed. It’s those items which will yield the biggest results in life – not all the busy work. This simple system keeps the needle moving forward on your life and business regardless of how many fires you may put out every day : )

Happy Planning!
